Happy New Year from Naples, Florida

photo : Rick Bethem

It´s been a beautiful day in Naples. Sunny skies, warm weather and finally a gorgeous fireworks show at the beach before dinner. Stuffed with stonecrabs and delicious crab cakes we are taking a break before having a piece of cheesecake for dessert.

I hope your day and evening has been as lovely.. wherever you are.

I wish you a very very Happy New Year!!

Kristina

Decorate with wreaths

Wreaths are not just for your front door. Decorate your windows or even your staircase with gorgeous color and ribbons and you´ve instantly added some christmas decor to your home.

Christmas Cookies!

the name of these crack me up... pheffermussen!

Last day before Christmas and I´m wrapping presents and taking care of the last minute things before I head for my big trip tomorrow. If you haven´t baked all your cookies and made all the christmas candy yet.. here´s one of my favorite recipes (and some pics of other yummi treats as well... recipes can be found at www.marthastewart.com )

Chocolate-coconut bars. Yum!
Super easy and oh so delicious!

Makes 20
  • 3 cups finely ground cookies (12 ounces), such as graham crackers or chocolate wafers, or a combination
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup pecan pieces
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly splash a 15-by-10-inch rimmed baking sheet evenly with water, then line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together cookie crumbs, sugar, and butter until combined. Evenly press onto bottom and up sides of prepared baking sheet. Bake, rotating halfway through, until firm, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack; cool, about 20 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle cooled crust evenly with pecans and chocolate. Pour condensed milk over the top, spreading to cover completely (do not let it drip over the edges). Sprinkle with coconut.
  4. Bake until coconut is toasted, 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool completely. Trim edges, if desired, and cut into equal-size bars.

Christmas candy

There are so many wonderful things about Christmas, and up on top of the list is all the yummy candy you get to eat. My boyfriend and I are making our own this sunday with the family.
We all help out and make one or two treats each so at the end of the day our fridge is stacked with chocolate fudge, rocky-road bars, mini chocolate covered coconut treats among many others.
Here´s some pics sure to get your mouth watering.

Just in... Glass domes

I just got these beautiful glass domes delivered today. I love this kind of thing... just not sure what I´m going to put inside. At the moment I placed a potted hyacinth in the large one which looks really pretty. I think I may have to get some pretty shells and fill the smaller one... or some cookies. Yum!

Here are some other ideas...

in the shop now...

Super charming illustrations by Louise Winblad, a local artist here in Stockholm. They´re on display in the shop until end of January. She has managed to draw such incredible expressions on the people in the pictures and captures such humor in every illustration. I love them and just looking at them puts a smile on my face.
Come in and have a look or contact me for more information. I can guarantee you´ll fall in love with them too.

sorry for the absence...

I have been so busy with the move and with setting up the new shop that I haven´t had time to do much posting on here lately.. so sorry about that. Now that I am finally getting my internet back tomorrow I can get a lot more done during the days.
In the meantime, here´s some pictures from the new shop. I hope you´ll all come for a visit soon!

My shop has moved...

They say bigger is better... but in this case smaller works better for me. I have moved my shop to a much smaller space and I am so excited. It was a quick move and over a span of 3 days we had painted, moved millions of boxes and re-decorated the new space. Needless to say... I am happy it´s Friday and I can relax for a bit.

Please check out my new and very much improved website. Same adress as before, but a new look. Many thanks to my talented brother who can now add webdesigner to his list of accomplishments.

My new address in Stockholm for those of you close by to visit :

Upplandsgatan 36

Hello yellow!!!

Lately I have been obsessed with yellow. It just brightens everything up and is such a happy color.
In my new shop (move in date to be announced soon...) I am going to have gray walls and long gorgeous yellow velvet curtains, topped off with some black accent furniture and gorgeous accessories.

Here´s some great spaces where they have used the color really well.

How to : pick a paint color

Picking the right paint color can be super tricky. Whether you are picking colors for a room in your apartment, the shutters around the windows on your house... or in my case at the moment... a background color for my new website, finding that perfect color is not so easy.

I always turn to Farrow & Ball who makes such beautiful colors and was happy to find these handy color or "mood" boards which were a great help.
Come back to these the next time you need to repaint and your color picking process will be much more enjoyable.

For more inspiration... pick up their latest book, Living with Color by Ros Byam Shaw, Ryland Peters & Small which is packed with interiors showing their color collection. Best of all, every room gives references to each Farrow & Ball paint !

Helpful tip : Always buy a small sample pot and test the paint on your wall before purchasing several gallons. Live with it for a couple of days before painting the whole room as the different lights during the day will alter the color. If you love the color as much in the daytime as the evening you are good to go.

If you have more questions or want more advise on how to pick the perfect paint color for you, you can email me at info@kandco.se

Perfect pattern

I´m in love with this pattern from Lulu DK´s gorgeous fabric line. It´s simple, chic and comes in fabulous colors. I´m currently working on a design for a client´s bedroom and am thinking about proposing this on the headboard (in the soft tan and light blue colorway). I think she´ll love it.

Adorable!

It has some funny proportions and the roof looks a little awkward, but this house is so adorable.
The planters and sconces flanking the door are perfect and the landscaping is impeccable.
I love!! when can I move in ?
